Peire Vidal, Azalais, and Howard Pyle

I always enjoy when I get to work with classic illustrative art. Mainly because I feel like I'm giving new life to something that is for the most part lost and/or forgotten.
This morning I had the pleasure of working with "Peire Vidal chant a la belle Azalais" by Howard Pyle. This is a scene done by Pyle for Harper's in 1903, and shows the French troubadour Peire Vidal entertaining his patron Azalais of Montferrat.
I'm not sure if a French troubadour of 1202 would be playing a lute, and think maybe Pyle took a little historical liberty. But still, I think this is a wonderful scene and works nicely on one of the chrome metal cigarette cases that I sell on eBay.
