Vintage Watch Video Project

This is a pretty good idea, if I do say so myself. I took an rss feed of LED watches for sale on ebay. Ran it through Pipes and Carp and set it up to display on a single web page, each listing taking up about 480x360 of space. Then I set my screen capture software at the beginning of the listings and as I click/scroll down the page it makes for some nice little video footage. Add some music and your done! I'm posting this, and weekly updates, to YouTube in support of my Vintage LED Watch site.

Shelby County Doings

We've been continuing to add features over at the Shelby Wired site...the community portal and online news media outlet for Shelby County Texas. One new feature debuted last week is the Super Pet of the Week contest. It's a user-generated thing...people send us pics and info of the pets and we choose one each week to be Super Pet. Winner gets a pair of tickets to the local theater. Who doesn't love pictures of pets!?
New advertiser posted to the site, Mangum Funeral Home, one of the leading Center TX Funeral Homes so a really great addition.
Great things are happening with the site and we remain committed that there is a need for a media rich community portal in this area of East Texas.

New Zazzle Shop with Beer T-Shirts

We’ve opened up a new shop at Zazzle with some of our vintage beer t-shirt designs. So far we’ve got some Krueger and Erlanger designs uploaded and will be adding a couple a day as we get time.
So little time, so many shirts!

Red Top Beer of Cincinnati T-Shirt

Making t-shirt designs out of some vintage beer graphics today. Here's the Red Top Beer shirt we've done up with a really sweet 1930s graphic for Red Top Beer and Ale.
In the 1950s the Red Top Brewing Co of Cincinnati was the 14th largest brewer in the country. The company went out of business in the late 1950s. This bulb-headed fellow dates to the 1930s.

Hagen Renaker Dog Figurines

Hagen Renaker figurines are very popular with collectors, especially the horse figurines. Me, I prefer the older vintage Hagen-Renaker pieces like the wild animals, cats, and dogs. Check out this beauty of a Poodle I recently came across. Love it!

California Pottery Projects for August

One of my niche sites is the California Pottery Index which I built a few years back, actually before I really knew what I was doing. It's a pretty small niche and while it makes a few bucks every month and pays the fees it's not a cash cow by any means.
So I'm taking some time this month to bring the whole page up to speed...adding a blog and some web 2.0 sharing capabilities and some Like buttons and just dressing the place up
One page I'm testing some new things with is the page for Sascha Brastoff Pottery. Sascha Brastoff has a small but loyal following and I'd really like the page to score higher in bigG and generally get a bigger share of the traffic. So I'll be tweaking some things to see if I can't do that.

Video Project for Omega Watch

Tossing around an idea about building a site to sell some watches. Wonder how difficult it is to cut through the clutter in the old watch community. Let's see how this vintage omega watch video fares among all the other watch videos online.

Hammocks For Peace

As in peace and relaxation. Hang the hammock in the backyard and enjoy your summer in style.
Some of these options include a combination mounting hammock chairs, hammocks and hammock chair portable stand that require no tools to assemble. Buying clearance hammocks will allow money savings no matter which type of hammock you purchase.
Here would be a dandy place for a video about a guy in a hammock. Let's see if we can find one.

Some East Texas Videos Plotted on Map

A Google Maps map of Shelby County with Shelby Wired videos plotted by location. I would like to see these videos pop-up on any Google Maps search. Seems that G picks a limited number of videos to actually get shown on a maps search. What is the criteria to getting shown? I'll let you know when I find out.

The Forgotten History of Black Americans

Watching today's episode of Glenn Beck I was intrigued by all the history of Black Americans that has been forgotten (or maybe purposely swept away) by the passing of time. Beck mentioned a book published in 1855, "The Colored Patriots of the American Revolution" by William C. Nell and I found an pdf version of the book. It's been long out-of-print but is available for download at a few different sites online.

Dog Gone Racer Dog T-Shirt

Love this Dog Gone Racer Dog T-Shirt we have over at the Cool Tee Shirts shop on Zazzle. It's the iconic racing dog from the Go! Dog! Go! childrens book by P. D. Eastman.
Heh, dogs driving cars, going fast, not liking hats, dancing on trees. Literature really can't get much better.

New Video for Shelby County TX Website

working on a new website project for myself and a radio buddy of mine. Called Shelby Wired, it's a news/info community portal for Center TX and the other towns of Shelby County, Texas. Having a lot of fun gathering up news sources and such and think it's going to be a real worthwhile project. A nice diversion anyway.
Just uploaded a new video to promote the coming site. Here it is as hosted on zoopy.com which has the feel of old-school YouTube. Plus a swell follow-link in the description.

Slow Fade Animated GIF

Seems like using slow fade animated gif's might be a pretty cool way to have information displayed on a website. Like a sales offer could magically appear after a certain period of time. Easy to make and small files. Plus could use on blogs where JS is not possible. Just a thought.

Call Me Mucha Fanboy

I'm a big fan of Czech artist Alphonse Mucha and use a lot of his artwork in my CafePress (and other POD) projects. It's really cool Art Nouveau stuff and most all is in the public domain.
Just built a new blog, Alphonse Mucha Shop, where I can direct traffic to some of my stores with Mucha stuff, old and new. Plus, I'll probably find some affiliate items to promote if the blog gains any kind of traction.
If you like Mucha feel free to check it out.

Robot Theater Talks Square Root Clock

When I stay up late enough I like to watch RedEye on Fox News, and especially enjoy the Robot Theater episodes. Real cheesy animation made with the tools at xtranormal.com website.
So as I was thinking about making a video in support of the Square Root Clock I thought I'd give the xtranormal site a go. This video took about an hour to put together. In other words, the xtranormal is really easy to use.

And by wizards we of course mean geeks.

New over at RetroRanger is the Square Root Clock which features numerals of square root equations.

Square Roots are cool. And you can learn all about the coolness of √121 and other numbers over at the Square Root Clock website. Be sure and check out the handy online square root calculator.

Now if you'll excuse me Battlestar Gallactica is on.

Retro Iroquois Brewing T-Shirt

One of our favorite retro beer brewery shirts at RetroRanger is the classic Iroquois Chief, longtime symbol for Iroquois Brewing of Buffalo, New York. This graphic taken from classic 1950s advertising for the brewery. The Iroquois Brewing T-Shirt, how's that for a $12 t-shirt!

Iroquois Brewing of Buffalo, New York survived prohibition by brewing soda and near beer and reopened shortly after prohibition ended in April 1933. After prohibition Iroquois became the largest brewer in Buffalo, attaining a capacity of 600,000 barrels per year.
In the 1950s, Iroquois merged with a group of other regional brewers and formed the International Brewing Company. Iroquois' partners in this venture included Silver Bar (Tampa, FL), Frankenmuth (Frankenmuth, MI), and Old Dutch (Findlay, OH).
Iroquois Brewing was taken independent again in 1965 but finally closed it's doors in 1971

Finding A Vacation Rental

One of the best online resources for locating a vacation rental is without a doubt Craigslist. I've just posted a blog post over on Teeblr on using Craiglist to get a current list of Outer Banks vacation rentals by owner for those planning a North Carolina vacation.

Networking A Computer And TV

I have my computer hooked into the living room television with a pretty simple system. The video inputs with a splitter off the computer video cable and the audio is transmitted through a little FM transmitter. This system gets whatever is on the computer over to the tv and works pretty well for watching streaming movies and vids.
I've been thinking of upgrading though. I think I'd like to be able to browse the web from the comfort of the sofa so have the need for a more versatile connection between the pc and tv. Since I'm educating myself to the possibilities out there I figured I might as well blog about the journey. Isn't that what people do these days?
Just debuted a new blog, My PC To TV, and in it I'll share the new systems and solutions to the PC to TV problem. First real post is a video of Icron's new wireless system. Pretty cool stuff.

Allis Chalmers WD45 Tractor Wall Clock

New at our RetroRanger store is this cool Allis Chalmers WD45 Wall Clock. You know how much we like old tractors! A tough Allis Chalmers WD45 tractor on a cool wall clock would be perfect in the shop. Or barn. Or milk room. Or potato cellar. Or, should I stop? OK.
